Genesis

Visakhapatnam, in short, is also known as Vizag or Visakha – The City of Destiny, a coastal district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India which is vibrant with many high-quality features and the city is growing over a footprint of 4873 Sq. Km in and around Visakha is being designed & developed by Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA)

The city is having a robust infrastructure and is well connected to the hinterland with multi-model transport connectivity by Air (A new and large International Airport under construction apart from the present international airport), Three Sea Ports to handle Bulk and Container Cargo Traffic, 8 and 4 Lane NH-16 Roads and Railway Trunk line connecting Metros Kolkata-Chennai-Hyderabad.

The transport and logistic connectivity attracted public & private investments in industries of Pharma, Shipping, Oil&Gas, Steel, Marine Food Processing, IT and Tourism sectors in Industrial clusters and in 4 SEZs. The city is having a significant literacy rate of 67.7% and provides high-quality human resources from 4 State Universities, 4 National Specialized Educational Institutions, 14 Engineering Colleges and 11 Polytechnics. All these features and characteristics with vibrant and harmonious industrial eco-system the Visakhapatnam city had contributed to the GDP of the State and Union and stood 9th in the economic position in India in terms of GDP and growth.

In view of the above, a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) initiative was taken by the Govt of Andhra Pradesh(GoAP) through its nodal agency Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) along with a private partner to develop an exclusive integrated Pharma City in Visakhapatnam with a Quality Infrastructure in an area of 2429 Acres including 600 Acres of SEZ for housing Bulk Drugs, Pharma, Chemical and allied industrial units.

Through a transparent bid process, Ramky Group was selected by GoAP as the private partner to develop the Pharma City along with APIIC through a special purpose vehicle entity “ Ramky Pharma City ( India) Ltd and has been christened as Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City (JNPC) as per the GoAP order G.O.No. 52 dated 21st Feb 2005 and made it operational from 2010. Currently, JNPC is housing 104 operating pharma MNC and domestic companies and accommodated around 30,000 employees complying with all the National and International Environmental and Social Standards and Regulations.

The JNPC is designed and the master plan was developed by world-renowned JTC Corporation, Jurong, Singapore and executed by Ramky Group along with GoAP-APIIC by taking care of the SEZ Processing Zone and DTA- Non-Processing Zone land parcels with adequate Water Supply & Storage, Roads, Drainage, Effluent System, Green Belt and Other Common Services.

With the above Quality Infrastructure, the Pharma and Bulk Drug manufacturers can save up to 30% on the Capex Investment, 2 years of construction timelines, 5% on water & storage costs and 5% on the common services costs aggregating to a total of 40% of the project cost saving if they set up the project in JNPC.

The above cost and time-saving in JNPC is possible as all the developmental approvals are provided through a single window with affordable land availability integrated with all the utilities and common services needed for the Pharma & Chemical Industry available as per the International norms and regulations along with the social infrastructure in the JNPC to keep the Human Resources at good Happiness Index in a comfortable Eco-friendly environment.
